Abstract

The future of the monarchy is, in the author's opinion, extinction. Just as the dinosaurs became extinct in the past, in the future monarchies, armies and many other institutions that will cease to be useful in a more civilised world than the present one will also become extinct. But until that moment arrives, and bearing in mind how functional the monarchy has been to Spanish democracy, this work proposes various modifications to adapt the institution to the new times, preventing it from becoming petrified. Thus, new interpretations of the king’s inviolability, the endorsement of his acts and the granting of noble titles are defended, and the reform of the investiture and the aggravated constitutional reform procedure itself are proposed.
