The paper tries to answer the dilemma if the Spanish form of government should be a «parliamentary» monarchy or a republic. For that purpose, the paper begins with an analysis of two elements that disturb a scientific examination of the subject; then, there is a reminder of the position of the Spanish 1978 constituent. Finally, the main two objections against the monarchy are refuted.
