Abstract

The end-of-life debate requires defining the ethical scenarios that appear in this context. The article puts forward, from the professional experience, that euthanasia and medically assisted suicide, although they are options not very often required by patients, are present today. The main point is to discuss to which level these measures could alleviate the suffering of the patients when they require them. Deliberation between professionals and patients taking into account the values of both, in a context of warmth and support of physical, emotional, spiritual and social symptoms from the ethical point of view is essential for seeking the most correct application of the law of euthanasia.
