This article analyzes the role Bioethics and the Law should play regarding the challenges of the 21st century Biomedical Research. Bioethics examines the ethics, moral and social aspects posed by biomedical research and provides appropriate solutions. However, we advocate for a more fl exible and secular notion of Bioethics, based upon an interdisciplinar, open and plural dialogue as the only way to achieve the basic standards of civic ethics in which the whole society may be represented. Lawmakers, as our Constitution points out, must promote and improve the
scientific knowledge and research. Thus, the aim of Biolaw is to develop the freedom of scientific research within the biomedicine field, with the only exception of those cases in which freedom of research and fundamental rights clash
