Abstract

It is well known that the relationship between the laws of nature and social laws appears to be one of the most complex issues in the fi eld of science. Th e same can be said with regard to entropy. Even identical words may have diff erent meanings depending on which fi eld they are used in. Although entropy, as a word, was coined with regard to Physics, this concept is used in fi elds such as Economics and Law as well. Th e paper examines the eff ects that entropy exerts on land information systems, paying special attention to the related question of access control and scale of these systems. Structurally, the paper unfolds in three parts. Part I refers to entropy as a concept able to be used in Law. Part II depicts the implementation of Land Information Systems. Finally, Part III discusses some questions about access control and scale in land information systems.
