Abstract

From 2007 on, when the highest employment level was registered, more than 3 million jobs have been destroyed in Spain. The figures are dramatic. This terrible scenario deserves a critical analysis about the reasons for the failure of the permanent contract’s hiring policies; the necessity for a rationalisation of our employment system; or the possible solutions to be put in place to fight the youth’s unemployment drama. This study analyses as well the ways to reform the partime contract or the last proposals on the active employment policies.
